One Adventure day

Wow! About sums it up. We had twenty-one children ranging from grade 1 to grade 7. They came with fun in mind and kept it up to the very end. The energy was wonderful, positive and encouraging. They were well behaved and helpful. When asking for volunteers to assist in setting up the next event there were plenty of hands.
They consumed almost four dozen hot dogs, drank over 12 litres of lemon aid, assorted cakes, fruit, and candy.
They played capture the flag, ran obstacle courses, searched for hidden treasure, did crafts, and encouraged each other to participate. The favorite item of the day was the rocket balloons. An item hard to find, yet very versatile in use for target hitting, or launching. The final event, the marshmallow knock down the Styrofoam towers, turned into a free for all. :).
They were children. no video games, or computers, just their imagination and the desire to have fun. “I loved the free play” was a response I will hold dear. There was structure. yet there was freedom to be children.
Putting these programs on is a passion of mine. They take time and effort as well as supporting friends and family members to pull them off. I scrounge for supplies and recycle what we can to make these events happen. The feedback I get from the children at the end of each event, helps to build on the next one. The highs and low, likes and dislikes are taken in and noted. The favorites are watched for and collected for the next time. Hmm now to find some more rocket balloons. 🙂
