The Ground Moved

Distracted by duty, I opened the blinds

The darkness of the halls needed light abound

I took a double take, a step back in surprise

The ground was quickly moving, I focused my eyes

The wet grass outside my window was moving like a wave of muddy water

Startled, I took in a breath and took a harder look

Focusing my eyes on the moving ground, I was startled more

A sudden flash of white on a sea of black, brown and green

The chickadees were feeding, moving quickly around

A sudden move and all were air bound
