Changes

The train stopped at my old neighborhood today
I didn’t get off
I took a look through the open door
It sure had changed
Not like it use to be
forest paths and running streams
birds singing songs and squirrels in trees
Nope. not like it used to be
laughing children, soccer games
skateboarders and cyclists
baby carriages and ice cream on the stoop
Nope. it sure isn’t like it used to be
Now, it’s all highrises and cement ponds
no soccer playing  or  ice cream
no children laughing
no streams to forge
no birds singing, not a squirrel in  site, no trees
the old neighbourhood has died
gone to techies, I sigh
