This morning I turned on the movie “Wally” while I was putting the finishing touches to the children’s lessons at church. This movie to me, can be useful as a teaching tool, as well as keeping children calm and amused before service.
A dad came into the room and noticed the children were watching the movie and took the time to explain to them that what they saw in the movie could be the shape of our earth if we did not take care of it. He was correct in his teaching.
I on the other hand saw it as a teaching tool to the lesson I was preparing. I was teaching on 1 Samuel 16 and 17. I saw the movie as another version of David vs. Goliath. The big space ship as Goliath and Wally as a David.
It is quiet amusing what we see in a movie. We all watch the same movie but learn something different from it. Some of the children saw it as a love story. Others, as an adventure, the hero being Wally. What ever we saw in the movie we learnt something from each person’s point of view and understanding. Wonderful
