I Ventured Out

Today I ventured out on a limb
took a chance on life itself
I started one foot before the other
I stumbled but, I did not fall
I tripped over the cracks in the walk
I smiled at a strangerToday I ventured out from the end of my rope
took a chance to see the sky
I looked up into the vastness of blue
and wondered what made the colour so rich and full
the clouds that were marshmallow fluffy
were white as pure snow

Today I ventured out from the cage I put myself in
I placed myself out there,
in the business of the day and stayed to play
I took a chance on breathing right
No chains to hold me tight

Today I ventured out…
